WEEK 9 OF PRACTICUM
WEEK 9: 29 JULY - 2 AUGUST 2024
In the structured framework of secondary education, specialized classes such as Hafazan for Form 3 and 5, Arabic for Form 302, and PSS for 403 and 503 stand as pillars of academic and personal development. Hafazan classes offer a dedicated space for students to memorize and internalize the teachings of the Quran, fostering spiritual growth and discipline. Arabic classes in Form 302 provide students with the opportunity to delve into the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the Arab world, enhancing their language proficiency and cross-cultural understanding. Meanwhile, PSS classes for Forms 403 and 503 focus on civic education, equipping students with knowledge about governance, citizenship, and societal responsibilities, preparing them to become informed and engaged citizens.
Away from the structured weekdays, weekends bring a different rhythm to the educational landscape with activities like monitoring Taekwondo classes. These weekend sessions not only promote physical fitness but also cultivate discipline, perseverance, and respect among students. Taekwondo, a martial art known for its emphasis on self-defense and mental discipline, provides a valuable avenue for students to develop confidence and leadership skills. The monitoring of these classes ensures a safe and supportive environment where students can learn and grow, fostering a holistic approach to education that nurtures both mind and body.
Some of the strengths that i had during the week 9 were i managed to prepare interesting and clear slides. Apart from that, i managed to show both the question and the guiding question on the same slide. Furthermore, i had displays the sequence of steps to solve the question. I believe this can help students remember the steps of the correct workflow. Also, during my teaching and learning sessions, i had called on different students to connect the work paths written on the whiteboard by their peers. I believe this method makes all students ready and stay focused when discussing questions. Apart from that, i managed to improve my time management in my teaching and learning session.
While some of the weakness was that i could only provide and discuss a few questions.
Next the opportunity that i had identified was that the students could easily excel the topic of Progression as a result from my teaching method.
