WEEK 12 OF PRACTICUM
I currently teach 33 hours a week, covering three main classes: 302, 403, and 503. Additionally, I instruct Tahfiz classes for both Form 3 and Form 5 students. Although it’s a demanding schedule, I find it fulfilling to guide students through a variety of academic and religious topics, especially now in my final week of practicum.
As part of my duties during examination week, I was assigned as one of the exam supervisors. The exams were held from August 5th to August 15th, and my role was to ensure everything ran smoothly for all classes and subjects. With this being the last week of my practicum, it has been a valuable experience in managing responsibilities during such a critical period.
In general, some of the strengths that i had identified during my first week of practicum were engaging and exciting, ability to simplify concepts and creativity. I believe that i was able to create a fun environment during my teaching and learning sessions by involved some humors and storytelling sessions. Apart from that, i believe i managed to simplify some of the concepts such as the proving of the formula for volume and the expressing into different forms of quadratic functions. I also managed to apply different method in helping the students learning. Furthermore, the GeoGebra that i had used can help the students understand easily.
Next, some of the weaknesses that i had identified was too much attention to detail. Sometimes i had spent a long time on relatively simple tasks that caused to drag my times. So i took action by listed down the important tasks to be complete first.
Moving on, some of the opportunity that i had identified was as the SPM examiner i managed to identify the mistakes that the students usually made in answering the SPM exam. This gave me opportunity to guide the students to avoid the mistakes that the students usually made.
Last but not least, the threat that i had identified was the persistent disengagement by one of the students which was the student stop being involved in the class activity. So, i took action by scheduled an intervention session with the student.
